Features This page contains a number of articles on various topics (though mostly project post mortems). The Making of Blob Wars : Attrition An article discussing the development of the Android Blob Wars game and its subsequent port to the desktop. Porting from Java to C presented some interesting challenges and solutions, but was worth it for the added benefits the desktop version had over the mobile original. The Making of The Pandoran War An in-depth article focusing on the development of The Pandoran War. The first BFTSS game went through several different iterations before the final game was settled upon. Those that have read the novels, developers, and gamers alike will no doubt find this making of to be quite interesting. A good number of screenshots showing the evolution of the game are also available. TANX represented the first highly ambitious project that I took on, and also in a genre I had never even attempt before. You can read about the work that went into creating the game in this article. The Making of Project: Starfighter Project: Starfighter represented my first foray into creating a game in C / C++. Quite a number of things went wrong along the way, many of which I blamed on the environment and other things that I was working with. Even so, it was great fun to make, and is remembered as a classic by many in the Open Source gaming community. The Making of Metal Blob Solid After much work on Project: Starfighter, I decided it was time to try my hand at a different game genre. I'd always fancied making a platform game, something where you could explore a world, collect items, and battle the enemies within. And so, Metal Blob Solid was born, and much like Project: Starfighter it found a place in the hearts of many gamers. Many challenges lay ahead in making this game, but, as always, they would good fun to tackle and overcome. The Making of Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer An article discussing the development of Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer, talking about the highs and the lows. Lots of development screenshots are included. Those who have played the game might be surprised to discover that it was at one point destined to be completely different. The Making of The Legend of Edgar How a series of basic tutorials turned into a fully fledged adventure platform game. |
